01. Who is this course for?
This 12-session course will give you the opportunity to plan, design and build your own website using free WordPress software. You may be starting your own business and want to get your services on the web or applying for a job that requires website knowledge. If you are interested in creating websites, this is a good place to start and develop your skills.

02. What will I learn?
This course will give you the opportunity to become familiar with website design principles using WordPress software. Understand website structure and planning and formatting techniques to construct your own website using themes, widgets and plugins. Learn how to customise Themes, create Pages/Posts, install widgets and plugins and learn basic HTML and CSS. Use Elementor plugin to create beautiful content in an SEO friendly way. Adjust site to be responsive to all screen sizes.

03. How will I learn?
Your progress and achievements will be recognised and recorded throughout your course in several ways. For example: practical tasks, written and verbal feedback from your tutor, practising and completing exercises and/or a learner diary.

04. What will I need to bring?
We recommend you bring materials like paper and pens to help you take notes, plenty of enthusiasm and commitment. Please can you bring a memory stick so you can take home a copy of your website. You can also upload to an online service. You can work from your own laptop should you prefer. You will be required to bring ID to be eligible for the course.

05. What skills or experience do I need?
Good keyboard and mouse skills are required together with a good understanding of file and folder management. Some background knowledge of website structure may be useful. You will also need to have a good standard of English language, reading and writing to attend this course and candidates will be required to read and complete exercises independently. If you are concerned about your English skills, we recommend you speak to your tutor, as we may be able to help.

06. How will I be assessed?
This is a non-accredited course. You will create a website to be submitted to assess what you have learnt. Throughout your course your tutor will give feedback on your progress and you will document your achievement through activities, worksheets and in group discussions.

07. What could I do after this course?
Following this course you could progress to the Website E-Commerce course where you can build a selling website where you will create different types of products, connect payment methods, create campaigns and integrate calendar and event planning plugins. Previously, some learners have gone on to work with websites, create their own business or continue their learning to create websites for others.

09. Is help available with course fees?
Many of our courses are FREE to all learners. For fee-paying courses, if you are in receipt of state benefits or have a low income (£26,211.90 before deductions) you could be entitled to enrol on your course for FREE, or at a 70% Reduced Fee cost. If your course is accredited (working towards a formal qualification) your course may be FREE if you earn under £25,000 before deductions. Some exclusions apply, eligibility for fee reduction is subject to change, and you may be required to provide evidence of earnings. If the amount you must pay for your course is over £50, we offer instalment plans which break down the cost of learning into a set number of easy monthly payments. If you need help with the wider costs of study, such as childcare, resources, travel, and transport costs, you may be eligible to have these costs reimbursed through our Discretionary Learner Support Fund.
