01. Who is this course for?
Multiply courses are designed for learners who don't already have a L2 maths qualification. Learners with a L2 maths qualification (GCSE Grade 4-9 or A-C or equivalent such as Level 2 Adult Numeracy or Functional Skills) will need to do a quick assessment before joining the course; please speak to our Business Support team to arrange this.
Learners need to aged 19 and above by the course start date.

02. What will I learn?
You will produce a meal each week using seasonal foods to take home to your family. You will discuss ways to reduce food costs and use basic maths skills for a variety of activities. Learn how to make budget friendly and healthy meals and get free items at end of course if you attend every week. Free recipe cards & ingredients provided each week. You will be given hints and tips on how to adapt recipes and how to save money, you may even learn new techniques. Certificate of attendance at the end of the four week course.

03. How will I learn?
You will be given a recipe and you can follow the recipe or you can adapt the recipe by selecting from the available vegetables and spices, you will have a range of ingredients to use free of charge and you will prepare these ingredients during the sessions, some ingredients may need to be weighed and measured. Group discussions will take place and you will be able to share ideas and tips. You will learn to cost the recipes and the individual ingredients. You will be supported by the tutor and given guidance and feedback at the session.

04. What will I need to bring?
A pen and notepad would be useful. A 2 litre container sealable and a bag to carry your homemade dish home in. All ingredients and equipment will be provided.

05. What skills or experience do I need?
No prior learning is required for this course.

No prior learning is required for this course, you may have never cooked, you may be able to cook, it does not matter, this course is designed to support you with developing your maths skills along with meeting new people and gaining confidence with cooking along with learning to save money and reduce food waste.

06. How will I be assessed?
You will be observed during the sessions during the preparation of the ingredients such as weighing and measuring, peeling and chopping, although this is not an accredited course you will be given feedback during the sessions relating to your progress. Guidance will be given during the costing activities also.

07. What could I do after this course?
You may wish to do other courses we offer after this course and you will be kept up to date of up-and-coming courses, our aim is that you will gain confidence with numeracy and progress onto a functional skills Maths course, however there are many other courses that are on offer.

08. How will I be supported in my learning?
We aim to support all learners to succeed. Our tutors will work with all learners to meet individual needs by using a range of resources and teaching methods.
When you enrol on your course you will be asked if you have any additional learning needs or disabilities which may affect your learning. This might include physical disabilities, neurodivergent needs (e.g., Autistic Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, dyslexia, or dyspraxia, etc.), visual and auditory impairments, or a medical condition which might affect your learning. Your tutor will contact you prior to joining the course to discuss what support can be put in place.
For some learners, this may mean organising extra time in exams or arranging for a Learning Support Assistant to support your learning in class. We also offer a wide range of assistive technology such as reader pens, screen readers, large print keyboards and screens, alongside in-class resources such as coloured overlays, large-print resources and more.
