01. Who is this course for?
This introduction the watercolours course is designed to cover basic watercolour techniques and how to use watercolour painting materials. The course will also cover a variety of different subjects such as landscapes, still life and figures. Students will also support each other through constructive feedback of each other’s artwork.

02. What will I learn?
You will be introduced to contemporary watercolour artists work through group discussions where the class will talk about how the artist achieved different effects and the techniques they used. You will also learn how to use watercolour techniques and then apply what you have learnt into creating artwork for a variety of subjects. These subjects are set by the tutor but learners can suggest subjects that they would like to try. The tutor will give practical demonstrations through a smart screen and will also give one on one support.

03. How will I learn?
This is a tutor-led, art class. You will learn through class demonstrations and receive 1:1 support from the tutor. Learners will also receive regular verbal and written feedback on their progress.
Please avoid taking holidays during courses. Missed lessons can affect funding for adult learning courses.

04. What will I need to bring?
You will need to bring watercolour paint; this can be a set of watercolour tablets or watercolour tubes. You will also need watercolour brushes and watercolour paper and drawing materials.

05. What skills or experience do I need?
This is a beginner’s course, and you do not need any previous experience.

06. How will I be assessed?
Tutors will use formative and summative assessment methods to evaluate learner progress. You will work towards completing a different subject each lesson which you can finish at home, as well as your own personal development targets. Targets are reviewed at the middle and end of the course. Informal discussions with the tutor will take place throughout the course, both individually and in groups. Your progress may also be documented through photographic evidence.
