01. Who is this course for?
This course is for learners who would like to explore creating artwork using both drawing and mixed media in a more independent setting. This course follows on from Drawing and Painting - Mixed Media - Intermediate level.

02. What will I learn?
This course will allow you to take more ownership of developing your artistic style. You will continue to develop skills in observation and imagination to create both realistic and abstract artwork. You will have more freedom over the topics you look at, while also receiving guidance and support from your tutor. You will also learn how to research ideas in your sketchbook, develop colour themes and find a distinctive style of your own.

03. How will I learn?
This course combines tutor-led demonstrations and independent work. You will also have the opportunity to talk to other members of the class about your work and to share ideas. Please avoid taking holidays during courses. Missed lessons can affect funding for adult learning courses.

04. What will I need to bring?
Please bring any drawing pencils, an eraser, paints, brushes, and a sketch pad or other paper that you already have. There is no need to get lots of materials before the first session. Tools and materials we will use in the course will be introduced as we go along.

05. What skills or experience do I need?
This course requires you to have the knowledge and skill level to draw using a range of techniques and is not suitable for beginners. It is useful, but not essential, to have previously done the Drawing and Painting - Mixed Media - Intermediate level. You need to be prepared to work independently, have a go, and to make mistakes to learn from them.

06. How will I be assessed?
The Learning for Wellbeing curriculum uses formative and summative assessment methods to evaluate learner progress. You will work towards completing learning targets set in class, as well as your own personal development targets. Targets are reviewed at the middle and end of the course. Informal discussions and critiques with the tutor and learners will take place throughout the course, both individually and in groups.

07. What could I do after this course?
You may wish to further develop your drawing and painting skills by enrolling on to one of our other drawing and painting courses. We offer courses in a wide range of art subjects, including watercolour, acrylic, and mixed media. There are a variety of other creative courses also so why not try something else from the Learning for Wellbeing curriculum. There is a wide range of art, craft, sewing, cookery, dance and creative arts courses for you to continue developing. Courses are available to search on the GoLearn website
