01. Who is this course for?
Gain either a Level 1 or Level 2 Certificate in Digital Skills and improve your skills using the popular Microsoft Office Suite. An initial assessment will be required at the start of the course.

02. What will I learn?
This course covers a range of digital skills that are widely used in the workplace or home – Word Processing, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and Access databases. Word - use templates to create a variety of documents and apply formatting/styles to enhance documents. Insert and modify tables and images. For level 2, use advanced word processing features such as mail merge. Spreadsheets - create a simple spreadsheet using basic calculations. Use tools and techniques to edit and format spreadsheet data. Display spreadsheet data in a graphical format. For Level 2, use advanced functions and formula. Presentations - create a PowerPoint presentation, use different slide layouts, templates and designs. Enter and combine text, graphics and media into a presentation. Databases – create a simple database, locate and amend records, run simple queries and produce and format reports. In addition, you will complete units such as Working in a Team and Create a Personal Learning Plan to further enhance your employability skills. This is an accredited course, and you will complete a combination of projects leading to a Certificate either at Level 1 or Level 2. Good attendance is required and there is an expectation that you will carry out some independent study.

03. How will I learn?
Your progress and achievements will be recognised and recorded throughout your course in several ways. For example: practical tasks, written and verbal feedback from your tutor, practising and completing exercises and/or a learner diary.

04. What will I need to bring?
Memory stick, pen, notepad and commitment to complete the course.

05. What skills or experience do I need?
For the Level 2 Certificate you should have completed a Level 1 Digital Skills qualification or have equivalent demonstrable experience/knowledge. For the Level 1 Certificate as a minimum, you must have good keyboard/mouse skills and have some knowledge of using the Internet and sending emails. For both levels, you must be able to work independently and on your own initiative.

06. How will I be assessed?
Gateway Level 1 Certificate in Progression or Gateway Level 2 Certificate in Digital and IT Skills
