More information about this Course

01. Who is this course for?
BSL basics is a short course designed to be just that- the very basics of BSL taught over 4 weeks (1.5 hours a week) We will learn some basic signs, a little about BSL structure and word order, and by the end of the course you should know how to have a very basic conversation in BSL. If you require a more in depth course we recommend you enrol on the BSL for beginners part 1 course. During this course we will aim: Week 1 - to be able to have a basic conversation introducing yourself. Week 2 – to be able to use signs to talk about your family and time. Week 3 – to be able to use signs to describe a person or family member. Week 4 – to be able to have a basic conversation about work.

03. How will I learn?
You will get feedback from your tutor- both written and verbal/ signed during the course. We use a short form called an ILP (individual learning plan) that you and your tutor both fill in to help us understand where you may need help and assistance and what you have understood clearly. it also shows us that you have progressed.

05. What skills or experience do I need?
none, just a willingness to try and to take part - and an interest in BSL of course!

NONE. This is not an accredited course, and there are no exams. you will get a certificate of completion at the end of the course.
