01. Who is this course for?
This 28 week classroom course builds on Level 2 Part 1 and aims to consolidate and extend existing knowledge, and increase confidence, accuracy and fluency particularly in conversational skills, but also in reading and writing. It will introduce a further range of vocabulary, linguistic & grammatical structures to enable you to talk about everyday topics / current affairs including; appropriate use of past, present & future tenses, use of the conditional and the imperative forms, adjectives & adverbs as used in everyday language and use of common idiomatic phrases. This course is suitable for learners who have already completed approximately 4-5 years’ part-time study or have a level of the language gained while living or working abroad roughly equivalent to a GCSE/ GCE ‘O’ level. Learners will already be able to express opinions and communicate on a range of familiar topics when on holiday, travelling independently or in business, family & social settings.

02. What will I learn?
• To participate in small group discussions on topics you choose (e.g. current affairs, travel, cultural and social aspects of the country), giving & justifying your opinions & ideas • To present a short talk based on prepared material of your choice, if you would like to, and answer simple unprepared questions on it • To identify the overall meaning of information, ideas and opinions given (spoken or written), covering a range of tenses, language structures and vocabulary • To communicate ideas accurately & in an appropriate style related to topics studied. • To understanding native speakers through use of the internet etc. and authentic text.

03. How will I learn?
• Regular dialogue with your tutor. • Class activities including group and paired work, role play, interactive activities and language games. • Spoken and/or written exercises with feedback from your tutor. • Monitoring of progress against learning aims to be agreed with your tutor

04. What will I need to bring?
• A4 folder to store handouts, notes, vocabulary and worksheets. • A dictionary could be useful but is not essential Your tutor may suggest a suitable text book to support your learning

05. What skills or experience do I need?
You should have completed a Level 2 Part 1 course in your chosen language or have had an alternative equivalent experience of the language. N.B. Please refer to description of different language levels in the course brochure. A certain amount of time for self-study outside the class is recommended to progress steadily each week.

06. How will I be assessed?
The course will be accredited by the Skills & Education group languages awarding body, through classroom activities and tasks.
