01. Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for learners who have either completed a Beginners Part 2 course, or who can already get by in everyday holiday or business settings, using simple words and phrases. It will build on the topics covered in the beginners’ course such as personal information, shopping, travel, directions, numbers, dining out, booking accommodation. Using a variety of learning materials including DVDs, CDs, practical activities, games, books and the internet. The main emphasis will be on developing your range of vocabulary to help you hold short conversations, including talking about things in the past (e. g. what you did at the weekend) and the future (e. g. holiday plans) Learners will also discover more about the culture, the country and its people.

02. What will I learn?
To enable learners to use and understand longer sentences and phrases in a range of everyday situations in order to be able to hold short dialogues/conversations e. g. to make travel arrangements, to ask for hotel requirements, make a complaint, report a loss, car hire. To be able to talk about things in the past, present and future tenses e. g. describe holiday and future plans/say what you did at the weekend etc. To be able to express likes, dislikes and preferences, and understand authentic written Italian such as guide books, timetables etc... To further develop skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing

03. How will I learn?
Your progress and achievements will be recognised and recorded throughout your course in a number of ways. For example: Regular dialogue with your tutor Class activities including group, paired work, role play and language games Spoken and/or written exercises with feedback from your tutor

04. What will I need to bring?
Pen/pencil/paper. A4 folder to store handouts, notes, vocabulary and worksheets. Details of course materials you may wish to purchase will be given at the first session. A dictionary could be useful but is not essential – please talk to your tutor.

05. What skills or experience do I need?
This is an ideal progression course for learners who have completed either a Beginners Part 2 course, or who have equivalent knowledge by another means e. g. school studies, frequent visits, relatives, work, etc.   A small amount of time for self-study between lessons is suggested.

06. How will I be assessed?
This course will be accredited by ABC Language Awards, through general classroom activities and tasks.
